Port Royal Speedway Sees Exciting Racing Action
The local racing scene faced some weather challenges this past weekend, with Williams Grove Speedway getting rained out on Friday. However, Port Royal Speedway was able to put on a thrilling show for fans with some extra cars on the track due to a canceled event at Lincoln Speedway.
In the feature event, driver Devon Borden made an impressive comeback, starting in 12th place and ultimately passing race leader Danny Dietrich on the last lap to claim his first exciting win of the year. The race was filled with intense battles for the lead, with Borden, Dietrich, and other top drivers trading positions throughout the final laps.
Borden not only took home a $5,000 prize for the win but also earned an extra $500 for being the hard charger of the race, passing the most cars on his way to victory. Additionally, he received an extra $300 for winning the race from a starting position further back than ninth, a rare feat that has now occurred at Port Royal Speedway for two consecutive weeks.
In other racing action at the Speed Palace, late model dirt series competitor Ross Robinson secured a $4,000 win and his first victory at Port Royal Speedway. The event also featured an Australian Pursuit race in honor of former lead scorer Glenn Stitt, with Jason Covert emerging as the winner of the special competition.
Fans can look forward to more exciting racing at Port Royal Speedway on April 20, with 410 sprint cars, super late models, and Penns Valley 305 sprint cars set to hit the track. Meanwhile, at BAPS Motor Speedway on Sunday, Danny Dietrich emerged victorious in a tight battle with Kyle Moody, earning his third win of the season and a $5,000 prize.
Despite some rain interruptions, the racing action at Port Royal Speedway and BAPS Motor Speedway provided plenty of excitement for fans and drivers alike, setting the stage for more thrilling competitions in the weeks to come.
