Bouquets to Art, the beloved annual floral extravaganza at the de Young Museum in San Francisco, is set to return next month for its 40th year. From June 4 to 9, visitors can immerse themselves in the beauty of 125 fresh and creative floral arrangements that pay tribute to the museum’s artworks and architecture.
The event, which benefits the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, will kick off with a gala reception on June 3. Among the participants from Marin County are April Abbott of April Flowers, Jacqueline Devins of Poppy Cart, Brianna Foehr of Floralounge by Church Street Flowers, Joy Kuhn McCabe of Tiburon, and members of the Marin Garden Club in Ross.
In addition to the stunning floral displays, this year’s Bouquets to Art will feature floral designs in dialogue with the American impressionist and modern masterpieces in the upcoming exhibition “American Beauty: The Osher Collection of American Art.”
Guests can also enjoy a series of entertaining lectures and demonstrations for $65, which includes access to Bouquets to Art, “Fashioning San Francisco,” and “Irving Penn.” The lectures will cover topics such as futuristic floral couture, the magic of the hummingbird, and super nature.
For those feeling lucky, there will be an optional raffle with prizes like an eight-day European cruise, sports events, fine-dining experiences, and more. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the event for $20 each or in bundles.
Tickets for Bouquets to Art are available on a timed-entry basis from June 4 to 9 at the de Young Museum. Special members-only viewing hours are also available. The opening night on June 3 will feature a preview of the floral displays, food and drinks by McCalls Catering and Events, and complimentary parking. Advance registration is required, with tickets starting at $500.
In addition to Bouquets to Art, the 2024 Eco-Friendly Garden Tour offers inspiration for water-saving gardens in Marin and Sonoma. The self-guided tour on May 18 will showcase 26 gardens featuring sustainable landscaping practices and bay-friendly landscaping.
If you have a beautiful or interesting Marin garden or newly designed home, you can share it with the community by contacting PJ Bremier for a chance to be featured in upcoming columns.
Overall, Bouquets to Art promises to be a fragrant, lavish, and engaging experience for art and flower enthusiasts alike. Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate the beauty of nature and art at the de Young Museum next month.
