Bellevue High School to Introduce Powerlifting Program with New Hire

Bellevue High School is gearing up to introduce a new sport next school year, thanks to the hiring of Carrington Davis as the catalyst for the program. Davis, a recent graduate from Midwestern State University, brings a wealth of experience in powerlifting to the table.

During her interview for an elementary teacher position, Principal Lori Shoemaker discovered Davis’s impressive powerlifting background. A standout athlete at Bowie High School, Davis consistently made it to the state meet and earned top placements in her last two seasons. Since then, she has continued to stay involved in the sport by serving as a judge at powerlifting meets.

Davis believes that her experience as a judge has given her a unique perspective on the sport, which will benefit her as she leads the Eagles’ new powerlifting program. Principal Shoemaker expressed excitement about the potential for the program, noting that Bellevue High School has a group of students who are well-suited for powerlifting.

Davis, who recently graduated with a degree in education, is eager to share the benefits of powerlifting with the students at Bellevue High School. She believes that the sport not only improves physical strength and endurance but also boosts confidence by allowing athletes to showcase their individual skills.

The introduction of the powerlifting program is sure to bring a new level of excitement and opportunity to Bellevue High School’s athletic department. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting development in the weekend edition of the Bowie News.
