Bowie State Chosen as No. 4 Seed in 2024 CIAA Women’s Tennis Championship Bracket

The stage is set for the 2024 CIAA Women’s Tennis Championship, and Bowie State is gearing up to face off against defending champions Shaw Lady Bears in the quarterfinals. With a record of 5-7 in the CIAA and 5-9 overall, Bowie State will be the No. 4 seed in this year’s championship.

The championship will be held on April 26-27 at the Virginia State University Tennis Complex. The top four teams from both the Northern and Southern divisions have qualified based on their regular-season conference record. Bluefield State University, the top seed in the North, will take on Livingstone College, the fourth seed in the South. Johnson C. Smith University, the second seed in the South, will face Elizabeth City State University, the third seed in the North. Virginia State University, the second seed in the North, will play against Winston-Salem State University, the third seed.

The winner of the championship will represent the CIAA in the NCAA regional, with the NCAA DII finals set to take place in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Shaw University has dominated the championship in recent years, winning 12 out of the last 17 titles, including the last five consecutive years.
