Ogden and Morgan Boys Volleyball Teams Advance to State Semifinals
OREM — The Ogden and Morgan boys volleyball teams secured their spots in the 3A state tournament semifinals after winning two matches each on Friday at Utah Valley University. The semifinals are set to take place at 11 a.m. on Saturday at UVU.
Ogden, ranked No. 5 with a record of 14-11, will face off against No. 1 Grantsville (16-8), while No. 6 Morgan (13-8) will go up against No. 2 North Sanpete (20-9) in the semifinals. The championship match is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The Ogden team advanced by securing two sweeps on Friday. They defeated Ben Lomond 25-15, 25-12, 25-9 in their first match and then went on to beat Salt Lake Academy 25-18, 28-26, 25-22. Meanwhile, Morgan swept Judge Memorial 25-17, 25-7, 25-14 in the morning and then staged a comeback to upset American Heritage in a five-set match 17-25, 20-25, 25-17, 25-15, 15-8.
Unfortunately, the No. 7 Utah Military Academy-Hill Field team was eliminated after losing to No. 2 North Sanpete. However, they will continue to play for fifth place in the consolation round on Saturday.
