bp is undergoing a significant restructuring to simplify its organizational structure and support its growth priorities. The energy giant will maintain three core businesses – production & operations, gas & low carbon energy, and customers & products – with the support of trading & shipping. This move aims to reduce duplication and streamline reporting lines within the company.

As part of the restructuring, bp will be supported by five key functions: finance, technology, strategy, sustainability & ventures, people & culture, and legal. The executive leadership team will also be reduced in size to ten members to enhance efficiency and focus on delivering the company’s strategic objectives.

William Lin, who previously led regions, corporates & solutions, will now head the gas & low carbon energy business, succeeding Anja-Isabel Dotzenrath, who is retiring. Emeka Emembolu will take over the technology function from Leigh-Ann Russell, who is leaving for an external opportunity.

Murray Auchincloss, bp’s CEO, emphasized the company’s commitment to becoming a simpler, more focused, and higher value organization. He praised William’s leadership skills and welcomed Emeka to the leadership team, highlighting their extensive experience and contributions to bp’s success.

William Lin and Emeka Emembolu bring a wealth of experience to their new roles, with decades of service at bp in various senior management positions. Their appointments reflect bp’s focus on talent development and strategic leadership to drive growth and innovation in the energy sector.

Overall, the restructuring at bp signals a strategic shift towards a more agile and efficient organization, poised to capitalize on emerging opportunities in the energy market while driving sustainable value for its stakeholders.
