Brennan Named Entrepreneur of the Year: Transitioning from the Boardroom to the Barn

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Betty Brennan, the co-founder and ex-president of Taylor Studios, a renowned firm that designs and fabricates exhibits for museums and parks, has been named the recipient of the 2024 V. Dale Cozad Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the Parkland College Foundation. Despite her background growing up on a farm in Streator, Brennan has transitioned to a career in regenerative farming with her latest project, the 250-acre Bluestem Springs Farm in Potomac.

Brennan’s farm practices include integrating cover crops, reducing chemical use, implementing crop rotation, and raising pasture-fed sheep. She also focuses on building prairie, caring for her forest, removing invasive species, and planting native flora. Her dedication to nature and entrepreneurship has been evident throughout her career, from founding Taylor Studios with her ex-husband to creating over 700 exhibits for clients across the country.

After selling Taylor Studios in 2021, Brennan took time to reflect on her next steps and found joy in taking care of animals and nature. She will be honored at the Entrepreneur of the Year banquet at the I Hotel and Illinois Conference Center in Champaign. Brennan’s journey from running a successful business to embracing regenerative farming showcases her passion for making a positive impact on the world and her commitment to entrepreneurship.
