British Tourists Banned from Traveling to 24 Countries with Foreign Office ‘No Travel’ Warnings

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The UK Foreign Office has issued ‘no travel’ warnings for 24 countries, effectively making them off-limits to UK travellers. Among the destinations on the list are some expected places like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Syria, as well as some surprising ones like Russia and Israel.

According to the Mirror, the list also includes countries like North Korea, Venezuela, and Yemen. The UK Foreign Office has cited reasons such as volatile security situations, extreme danger, and the ongoing invasion of Ukraine as reasons for advising against travel to these countries.

British nationals are warned of the heightened risk of being detained in Afghanistan, while the situation in Russia is described as unpredictable due to the invasion of Ukraine. It is crucial for travellers to check Foreign Office travel warnings before embarking on any trips, as travelling against their advice may invalidate travel insurance and limit consular support.

Despite the warnings, one anonymous British tourist shared their positive experience of visiting St Petersburg in 2019, praising the stunning sights and friendly people. Another Brit urged others to consider visiting St Petersburg after the ongoing war concludes, highlighting the beauty of the Church of Our Saviour on the Spilled Blood.
