Britney Spears has reached another major settlement, this time with her soon-to-be-ex-husband, Sam Asghari. The pop superstar and her husband submitted an agreement for dividing up their assets to a judge for approval, according to documents filed in a Los Angeles court on Thursday.
The filings revealed that neither Spears nor Asghari will receive future spousal support, despite Asghari initially stating that he would seek financial support. Any future disputes between the two will need to be settled in private arbitration.
The couple, who had no children together, separated in July, just 13 months after their marriage and seven years after they began dating. Asghari filed for divorce in August, and the divorce settlement comes nine months after their separation.
Their marriage in June 2022 was seen as a triumphant milestone for Spears, who had recently been freed from a court conservatorship that controlled her life and finances for over 13 years. The ceremony, held at her home, was attended by celebrities like Selena Gomez, Drew Barrymore, Paris Hilton, and Madonna.
Last Friday, Spears also reached a settlement with her father, Jamie Spears, on the remaining issues from the conservatorship, avoiding a potentially lengthy and public trial. With both settlements now reached, Spears is on track to officially end both her marriage and the legal constraints that have defined her life for years.
