Bronny James, the eldest son of NBA superstar LeBron James, has announced his decision to declare for the 2024 NBA Draft after just one season with the USC Trojans. The highly-touted recruit entered the NCAA transfer portal, leaving his college basketball future uncertain.
Despite a rocky start to his freshman season, which was delayed due to a cardiac arrest scare, James averaged 4.8 points in 19.3 minutes per game for a struggling USC team. The Trojans finished with a disappointing 15-18 record and head coach Andy Enfield recently departed for SMU.
James’ decision to enter the NBA Draft comes as no surprise, as his father has long awaited his jump to the professional league. While he may not be NBA-ready just yet, there is speculation that a team could take a chance on him in hopes of luring LeBron James, who holds a player option with the Los Angeles Lakers.
With his future up in the air, James will work out for NBA teams and make a draft decision based on evaluations. He could also potentially return to college, with schools like SMU, Oregon, and Ohio State being potential landing spots.
As the basketball world eagerly awaits Bronny James’ next move, one thing is for certain – he is ready to take the next step in his basketball career, whether it be in the NBA or at the collegiate level.
