The No. 33-ranked Cornell men’s tennis team showcased their dominance as they cruised to a 7-0 victory over the Brown Bears on Saturday afternoon. The match, held at the Pizzitola Sports Center, saw Cornell extend their winning streak against Brown to an impressive 13 matches.
Cornell faced a tough challenge in doubles play, with Brown’s Alexander Bravo and Alex Finkelstein securing a 6-2 victory. However, Cornell quickly bounced back with Nathan Mao and Adit Sinha winning their match in a 7-5 decision. The duo of Radu Papoe and Samuel Paquette sealed the doubles point with a 6-4 win, marking their fourth victory in the last six matches.
In singles play, Papoe and Paquette continued Cornell’s momentum with convincing wins. Noah Eisenberg clinched the match for Cornell with a 7-5, 6-3 victory, maintaining his perfect record this spring. The team played out the remaining singles matches, with Felipe Pinzon and Aman Sharma securing wins in their respective matches.
Looking ahead, Cornell will close out their 2024 regular season with a match against No. 68 Yale on Sunday, April 21. The team will travel to New Haven for the showdown at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center, with doubles action set to begin at 1 p.m. Cornell will aim to carry their winning momentum into this crucial matchup against Yale.
