Heather Rokeh and Michelle Salfer, the owners of Graceful Marilyn Quilt Shoppe in Marshall, recently received a prestigious regional award in a worldwide contest sponsored by the byAnnie.com online quilting supply company. The award, which covers all of Minnesota, was a significant achievement for the duo.

The decision to enter the contest was driven by the potential for increased publicity and special sales opportunities for their shop. With 76 quilt shops in Minnesota and a total of 821 entrants from across the United States, competition was fierce. However, Graceful Marilyn emerged victorious with 136 votes from customers, showcasing the strong support they have in the quilting community.

Rokeh and Salfer credited their customers for the win, emphasizing the importance of building relationships and providing excellent service. The duo took over the shop in 2021, following the retirement of the previous owners, and have since seen significant growth in their customer base, with online orders coming in from as far as Alaska.
