The Yellow Springs High School track team kicked off their season at the Springfield Shawnee meet last Wednesday, braving frigid temperatures and tough competition. Despite being a young team with only two seniors, the Bulldogs showed great determination and resilience.

On the girls’ side, junior Tiger Collins stood out with two runner-up finishes in the high jump and long jump, as well as a seventh-place finish in the 100 hurdles. Sophomore Llnyah Grant also had a strong showing, placing third in the 100 meters and fourth in the 200 meters. The girls’ relay teams also performed well, with the 400-meter relay team finishing fifth.

For the boys, 11th grader Terrel Robinson impressed with a seventh-place finish in the discus and a strong performance in the 400 relay team. Other standout performances came from Evan Galarza, Kiernan Anderson, Collin Calfee, and Morris Wyatt in the sprint events.

Despite the challenging weather conditions, coaches Isabelle Dierauer and John Gudgel praised the athletes for giving their best efforts in every event. The Bulldogs will look to build on this performance as they prepare for their next competition at the Cedarville Impson Invitational on Friday, April 5.
