The Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF) has made a significant impact in Texas by awarding over $540,000 in literacy grants to non-profit organizations, libraries, and schools. This generous donation will support adult, family, and summer literacy programs in the state, benefiting numerous individuals seeking to improve their education.
Among the Texas recipients are the Catholic Charities of the Texas Panhandle in Amarillo, Storybridge, Inc. in Amarillo, Lovett Memorial Library-Pampa, and the Hansford County Library in Spearman. These organizations will use the funds to enhance their literacy programs, providing resources such as new technology, books, materials, and software.
Denine Torr, the executive director of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, expressed excitement about the impact of the grants, stating, “We believe individuals of all ages deserve access to a quality education, and the Dollar General Literacy Foundation is thrilled to support thousands of learners across the country as they enrich their lives with literacy and education.”
Since its inception in 1993, the DGLF has helped more than 20 million individuals achieve their educational dreams. This year’s spring grant cycle marks another milestone in the foundation’s mission to empower individuals through literacy and education.
