Derek Bendickson, a seasoned environmental engineer, has recently been promoted to the position of environmental team leader at KLJ Engineering LLC. With nearly a decade of experience in the field, Bendickson has worked on various projects in North Dakota, South Dakota, and Montana, showcasing his expertise in areas such as botany, wildlife surveys, Endangered Species Act compliance, wetland delineations, and stormwater inspections.

In other news, the winners of the 2024 Governor’s Travel and Tourism Awards have been announced, recognizing individuals who have made significant contributions to the industry. Sheri Grossman received the Legend Award for Travel & Tourism Industry Leadership for her outstanding work as CEO of the Bismarck Mandan Convention & Visitors Bureau. Matt Schanandore was honored with the Flint Firestarter Award for his role in creating the popular “Holiday Lights on Main” attraction in Mandan. Kim Schmidt was recognized with the Sakakawea Award for her behind-the-scenes work at the North Dakota Department of Commerce.

Additionally, several real estate agents from the Bismarck-Mandan area were nationally recognized by Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate LLC. Jesse Clooten, Karin Haskell, Bill Dean, Denise Ziegler, Amy Ziegler, Becky Aadnes, Tanya Vetter, and Dot Frank were all acknowledged for their outstanding performance in the industry.
