Byron Scott Unsure if JJ Redick is the Right Fit for Lakers Coaching Position, Lacks Experience

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former NBA player JJ Redick is being considered as a potential candidate for the head coaching position with the Los Angeles Lakers, despite never having coached before. However, former NBA head coach Byron Scott is not convinced that Redick is the right fit for the job.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, Scott expressed his doubts about Redick’s ability to excel as a head coach in the NBA. Scott pointed out that it can be challenging for a first-time head coach to succeed in such a high-pressure role. He referenced the failed hiring of Steve Nash as head coach of the Brooklyn Nets, where Nash struggled to win consistently despite having star players like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving.

Scott also mentioned other potential candidates for the Lakers coaching job, including Sam Cassell and Mark Jackson. He even offered his own services, highlighting his coaching experience with teams like the Nets, Hornets, Cavs, and Lakers, as well as his Coach of the Year award in 2008.

As the search for a new head coach continues, it remains to be seen whether Redick will ultimately be chosen for the position. Stay tuned for updates on the Lakers’ coaching decision.
