Caesar Rodney girls’ tennis team motivated to secure second consecutive state championship

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Caesar Rodney High School’s girls’ tennis team is on a winning streak like no other, with 49 consecutive victories under their belt. The team, which clinched the DIAA team state title last May after a five-year wait, is now eyeing another championship this spring.

With most of their lineup returning, the Riders have dominated their opponents this season, winning all 12 matches by perfect 5-0 scores. Coach Dan Candeloro attributes their success to the competitive spirit and work ethic of the players.

Sophomore Gracie Clark and junior Ava Vu have been standout performers, both undefeated in singles matches this season. Clark, who lost in the first singles state semifinals as a freshman, has not dropped a set this season. Vu, who moved up from doubles to singles this season, credits her improved net skills to her experience in doubles play.

The team’s top players, including Noelle Snyder, Yatra Patel, and Maxine Banaag, have also been instrumental in the team’s success. With only four seniors on the roster, the Riders are a young but talented team with their sights set on back-to-back state championships.

As they gear up for the upcoming conference and state tournaments, the Riders remain focused on their ultimate goal of winning another state title. With their unbeaten record and determination to succeed, Caesar Rodney High School’s girls’ tennis team is poised to make history once again.
