Calvin Baisley, a coaching legend at Land O’ Lakes High School, is in the midst of a remarkable milestone as he coaches his grandson, Logan, during his senior season. With 40 years of coaching experience under his belt, Calvin has already coached his three sons, all of whom were selected in the Major League Baseball draft.
Logan, a standout pitcher for the Gators, feels fortunate to have his grandfather as his coach. Despite the family connection, Logan insists that Calvin treats him no differently than any other player on the team.
At 66 years old, Calvin shows no signs of slowing down. His dedication to the sport is evident in the success of the team, which has a record of 15-4 this season after a slow start.
The coaching staff at Land O’ Lakes boasts an impressive combined experience of over 100 years, with assistant coach Larry Beets bringing 50 years of coaching experience to the table.
As the Gators gear up for their next game against Steinbrenner, the team is a testament to the power of tradition and consistency in the world of high school baseball. With Calvin at the helm, the future looks bright for the Land O’ Lakes baseball program.
