Canada Orders Dissolution of Two Tech Companies Over National Security Concerns
In a bold move to protect national security, Canada has ordered the dissolution of two technology companies operating in the country. Bluvec Technologies Inc and Pegauni Technology Inc have been instructed to cease all operations in Canada due to concerns raised by the government.
The decision to dissolve the companies came after a thorough review conducted by Canada’s national security and intelligence community, according to a statement from Innovation Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne. While the statement did not provide specific details about the investments or security concerns, it emphasized the government’s commitment to safeguarding national interests.
Bluvec Technologies Inc, described as a maker of drone detection devices on its website, and Pegauni Technology Inc, a company specializing in wireless security products, have both been affected by the dissolution order. When contacted for a response, Bluvec Technologies denied receiving any official order from the government, while Pegauni Technology remained unreachable for comment.
The move to dissolve the companies falls under the Investment Canada Act, which was recently revised to include stricter national security reviews of foreign investments in the country. Foreign entities seeking to acquire control of Canadian businesses or establish new ventures are subject to these regulations.
As the situation unfolds, the Canadian government remains steadfast in its commitment to protecting national security interests and ensuring the integrity of foreign investments in the country.
