Katy School Board Election: Incumbent Rebecca Fox Faces Challenger Donovan Campbell

KATY, TX (Covering Katy News) – The Katy School Board election is heating up with two candidates vying for Position 6, one of the two open seats this year. Incumbent Rebecca Fox, the longest-serving member of the Katy Independent School District Board of Trustees, is facing a challenge from businessman Donovan Campbell. The winner of this election will serve a three-year term as a Katy Independent School District Trustee.

In a recent survey, both candidates were asked three questions to provide insight into their motivations and qualifications for the position.

Rebecca Fox, the incumbent, highlighted her dedication to serving the needs of students and the importance of experience in guiding the future of Katy ISD. She emphasized the need for a strong, vetted policy and addressed false narratives circulating about the board’s decisions. Fox also outlined her accomplishments during her time as a trustee, including the addition of new programs and facilities to benefit students.

Challenger Donovan Campbell shared his belief in the importance of ordinary citizens stepping into public service and his specific reasons for running, including personal involvement in overseeing the district due to his children attending Katy schools. Campbell also highlighted his experience in community service, business leadership, and advocacy for quality education.

When asked about the public approach of Superintendent Dr. Ken Gregorski in addressing public school funding issues with state lawmakers, Fox defended the need for communication and advocacy, while Campbell emphasized the importance of productive relationships with lawmakers.

As the election approaches, Katy residents will have the opportunity to choose between these two candidates with different backgrounds and visions for the future of Katy ISD.
