Canucks secure 3-2 victory over Oilers in Game 5 with J.T. Miller’s late goal

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling Game 5 showdown, the Vancouver Canucks secured a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers with a last-minute goal from J.T. Miller. The win now gives the Canucks a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven series, setting the stage for an intense Game 6 in Edmonton on Saturday.

Carson Soucy and Phillip Di Giuseppe made impactful returns to the Canucks lineup, with both players contributing crucial goals. Soucy, who was suspended for Game 4, scored a goal late in the first period to level the score at 1-1. Di Giuseppe, who missed the previous game due to personal reasons, netted his first-ever playoff goal in the second period to tie the game at 2-2.

Despite early goals from Evander Kane and Mattias Janmark giving the Oilers a lead, the Canucks fought back with determination. Rookie goalie Arturs Silovs made 21 saves for Vancouver, while Edmonton’s Calvin Pickard stopped 32 shots.

The game was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams showcasing their offensive prowess. Edmonton’s Leon Draisaitl continued his impressive playoff performance with an assist, extending his point streak to 10 games.

The Canucks’ victory was sealed in the final minute when Pius Sutter’s shot ricocheted off Elias Pettersson’s skate and was tapped in by Miller for the game-winning goal.

With both teams giving it their all, Game 6 promises to be a thrilling continuation of this intense playoff series.
