The 42nd Annual Caribbean Travel Marketplace, hosted in Montego Bay, Jamaica, has set a new record with 1,200 delegates and 12,724 appointments, highlighting the region’s thriving tourism sector and collaborative industry efforts.
Organized by the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA), the event took place from May 20-23, 2024, and saw participation from 137 traditional buyer companies representing 25 countries. The event also featured 207 supplier companies from 27 Caribbean destinations, showcasing the diversity and appeal of the region.
With 271 delegates from buyer companies and 682 delegates from supplier companies, the Marketplace facilitated a staggering number of scheduled appointments, fostering valuable connections and partnerships within the industry. The event also included representatives from MICE companies, wedding specialist organizations, travel advisor agencies, and members of the media, further enhancing the networking opportunities.
Notable additions to this year’s Marketplace included the Caribbean MICE Exchange, catering to meeting planners, and Responsible Tourism Day, emphasizing sustainable tourism practices. The event also featured innovative exhibits showcasing the latest hospitality technology and unique Caribbean experiences.
Jamaica, the host country, impressed attendees with captivating performances by Tessanne Chin and Maxi Priest, highlighting the island’s rich cultural heritage. The event concluded with a spectacular drone show, blending tradition with modernity and leaving a lasting impression on participants.
