Carlo Acutis: The First ‘Millennial’ Set to Become a ‘Saint’

Carlo Acutis, a UK-born teenager who passed away at the young age of 15 in 2006, is set to make history as the first ‘millennial saint’ of the Catholic Church. Known for his exceptional computer skills, Acutis tragically lost his battle with leukemia in 2006, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire millions around the world.

Born in London in 1991, Acutis displayed early signs of religious devotion, often asking his parents to take him to churches from the tender age of three. He selflessly donated his pocket money to help the less fortunate and eventually taught himself how to code, using his skills to create websites that spread the teachings of the Catholic Church.

One of Acutis’ most notable projects was a website documenting miracles witnessed globally, which has since been translated into multiple languages. His dedication to his faith and technological prowess earned him the title of ‘God’s influencer’ among his followers.

Acutis’ journey towards sainthood was solidified after reports surfaced of a miraculous recovery by a 7-year-old boy from Brazil who touched one of Acutis’ t-shirts and was healed from a rare pancreatic disease. This event, deemed a miracle by the Pope, was the first of two required for Acutis to be canonized.

Recently, Pope Francis approved a second miracle attributed to Acutis, involving a university student in Florida who made a remarkable recovery from a brain bleed after her mother prayed at Acutis’ tomb. This extraordinary chain of events has led to Acutis becoming the youngest saint in history and the only person born in the 1990s to be recognized by the Catholic Church.
