The Madrid Open is in full swing, with top tennis players battling it out for the prestigious titles. Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka are looking to defend their respective titles, with Rafael Nadal also in the mix in the Spanish capital.

In the men’s singles quarter-finals, Carlos Alcaraz will face off against Andrey Rublev, while American Taylor Fritz takes on Francisco Cerundolo. On the women’s side, Elena Rybakina will go up against Yulia Putintseva, and Aryna Sabalenka will take on 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva.

The tournament is being held at the iconic Caja Magica (Magic Box) at the Manzanares Park Tennis Centre, which has been the home of the Madrid Open since 2009. With three courts all equipped with retractable roofs and a total capacity of over 17,000 seats, the venue provides a stunning backdrop for the intense competition.

Defending champions Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka are aiming to retain their titles, with Alcaraz going for a ‘threepeat’ after winning in 2022 and 2023. Sabalenka, on the other hand, will look to secure her second Madrid title in three years.

Innovative changes are being trialed at the 2024 Mutua Madrid Open, including more Singles vs Doubles action, a streamlined schedule, and a reduced shot clock to accelerate the pace of play. Tennis fans can catch all the action live on Sky Sports as the tournament unfolds, leading up to the French Open at Roland-Garros later in May.
