Carnival’s Cruise Boom Continues with Debut of New Ship: Monster Growth!

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Carnival Cruise Line is making waves in the industry with the addition of five new ships in just 18 months. The latest vessel to join the fleet is the Carnival Firenze, which welcomed passengers for the first time in Long Beach, California. This 135,156-ton ship can accommodate 4,126 passengers and marks the third new ship for Carnival in less than a year.

The rapid expansion of the Carnival fleet is unprecedented in the history of cruising, with the addition of the Carnival Firenze following the debut of the Carnival Jubilee and Carnival Venezia. These new ships join the Miami-based Carnival Celebration and the Australia-based Carnival Luminosa, bringing the total number of ships in the Carnival fleet to a record 27.

While the Carnival Firenze is technically a new ship for Carnival, it previously sailed under the name Costa Firenze for Costa Cruises, a sister brand to Carnival. The vessel was transferred to Carnival Corporation in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, along with several other Costa ships.

Despite its Italian roots, the Carnival Firenze has undergone a significant overhaul to align with the Carnival brand, including the addition of signature venues like Guy’s Burger Joint and a Steakhouse. The ship will offer a unique blend of Italian and Carnival-style cruising, with fares starting at $214 per person for a four-night sailing from Long Beach to Mexico.

With the addition of the Carnival Firenze and four other new ships, Carnival Cruise Line continues to innovate and expand its offerings to meet the growing demand for cruising experiences.
