Morgan State Senior Mikeal Carpenter Earns First Team All-MEAC Honors

BALTIMORE, Md. (April 24, 2024) — Morgan State University’s senior tennis player, Mikeal Carpenter, has been recognized for his outstanding performance on the court by earning First Team All-MEAC honors for the second consecutive season. The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference announced this prestigious accolade on Wednesday afternoon, highlighting Carpenter’s athleticism and leadership.

Carpenter, who was also named the 2023 MEAC Player of the Year, has been a key contributor to the Bears’ success with his exceptional skills and unwavering determination. This spring season, he leads the team with a stellar 12-5 overall record and an impressive 11-5 record in singles matches from the number one position. In doubles competition, Carpenter showcased his versatility by partnering with various players, including a successful pairing with Makkijha Brown.

Under the guidance of head coach Matthew Townes, Morgan’s men’s tennis team concluded their regular season with a 7-12 overall record and secured the No. 5 seed in the upcoming MEAC Championship Tournament. The Bears will face the No. 4 seeded Howard Bison in the quarterfinal matchup, set to begin at 2 p.m. at the Cary Tennis Courts in Cary, North Carolina.
