Coach Joshua Smith is set to take the reins of the Carroll County High School football program, replacing Lonnie Oldham who has been at the helm for the last two seasons. Smith, a first-time head coach, is not just focused on touchdowns but also on modeling integrity and sportsmanship on and off the field.

Having played against Carroll County during his high school years, Smith was drawn to the community support and the competitive spirit of the team. He expressed his excitement about the potential of building a strong program at Carroll County and competing at a high level each year.

Athletic Director Scott Anderson praised Smith’s competitiveness and work ethic, stating that the team is eager to start working with him. Smith, who has experience coaching defensive and offensive lines at various schools, including a stint as an associate head coach at Sayre in Lexington, emphasized the importance of structure and clear communication with his players.

Smith encouraged anyone interested in football to join the team for practice, which is set to start at the end of May or early June. He also emphasized the importance of being multi-sport athletes and building a family atmosphere within the team.

With a focus on servant leadership and building relationships within the community, Smith is determined to see a new and improved Carroll County team this year. As he continues to work on assembling his coaching staff, Smith is confident that the team will see positive changes under his leadership.
