The Marshalltown boys soccer team faced a tough loss on Monday night as they fell 7-2 to Perry at Leonard Cole Field. Despite having numerous scoring opportunities in the first 20 minutes, the Bobcats were unable to find the back of the net, leading to a four-goal onslaught by Perry before halftime.

Head coach Scott Johannes expressed his disappointment, stating that doubt crept in when the team couldn’t convert their chances. Perry’s offense finally clicked into place, overwhelming the Bobcats with four goals in a nine-minute span, including two goals from Sergio Sanchez.

Although Marshalltown managed to regroup at halftime, they were unable to mount a comeback against a strong Perry team. Logan Hoffman and Aaron Ordaz Zambrano combined for a goal early in the second half, but Perry quickly responded with two more goals to extend their lead.

Despite some offensive chances in the second half, Marshalltown was unable to capitalize and ultimately fell short against Perry. However, the Bobcats did manage to score a late goal courtesy of David Monge, providing a positive note to end the game.

Looking ahead, the Bobcats face a tough challenge against Des Moines Hoover, but Johannes remains optimistic about his team’s ability to compete. Despite the disappointing loss, he believes that Marshalltown can bounce back and compete with any team in the future.
