The Cleveland Cavaliers made a surprising move by parting ways with head coach J.B. Bickerstaff, despite the team’s impressive performance this season. With a No. 4 spot in the Eastern Conference and a playoff series win under their belt, many were shocked by the decision.

However, it seems like the Cavs are ready for a fresh start and have already set their sights on potential replacements. ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the team has been granted permission to interview top assistants Kenny Atkinson of the Golden State Warriors and James Borrego of the New Orleans Pelicans for the head coaching job.

Atkinson and Borrego both bring previous head coaching experience to the table, having led the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Hornets, respectively. The Cavs are looking to conduct an “expansive interview process” with several other candidates in the mix.

In addition to the coaching change, the Cavs also face tough decisions regarding their roster. The dynamic between Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell is under scrutiny, with the possibility of moving Garland to accommodate Mitchell’s contract extension. The frontcourt situation with Jarrett Allen and Evan Mobley is also up in the air, especially with reports of Allen causing friction among teammates during the playoffs.

As the Cavs enter a new era, all eyes are on the team’s next moves in both coaching and player personnel. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
