CFAY Reminds Parents of Upcoming School Deadlines – DVIDS News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

As April’s Month of the Military Child comes to a close, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka’s installation schools have opened the window for student re-registration. This opportunity allows parents with eligible students to indicate whether their child will be withdrawing or returning for the upcoming school year. The re-registration process is open to all Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) schools operating on the installation’s Main Base, Ikego Heights Housing Area, or schools on other installations.

Parents facing any issues with the re-registration system are advised to contact the school directly for troubleshooting. If the problems persist, the school staff will escalate the issue to DoDEA offices for resolution. Additionally, Yokosuka parents with younger children have a new program to look forward to this upcoming school year.

DoDEA recently announced the Universal Prekindergarten program in 80 locations, including The Sullivans Elementary and Ikego Elementary in Yokosuka. This initiative aims to enhance early childhood education within the DoDEA school system by providing services for all four-year-old children who meet the current eligibility policies.

Furthermore, Yokosuka is offering various activities for military children this month, including drawing contests and family-friendly events. The Month of the Military Child Celebration at Berkey Field will feature field activities, food trucks, and live music performances on April 27. This event aims to honor and celebrate the resilience of military children and their families.

For more than 75 years, Commander, Fleet Activities Yokosuka has been providing essential support to the U.S. 7th Fleet forward-deployed naval forces, tenant commands, and military and civilian personnel and their families. The re-registration window and the introduction of the Universal Prekindergarten program are just some of the ways Yokosuka is supporting military families and their children.
