Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling encounter in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), Punjab Kings’ Rahul Chahar and Harshal Patel showcased their bowling prowess as they led their team to victory against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The duo took three wickets each, restricting CSK to 167/9 in Match 53 at the HPCA Stadium, Dharamsala.

Chahar made a significant impact in the middle overs, picking up crucial wickets, including that of CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and the dangerous Shivam Dube. Harshal Patel, on the other hand, proved to be lethal at the death, dismissing key CSK batsmen like Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Shardul Thakur, and the legendary MS Dhoni.

The partnership between Chahar and Harshal yielded six wickets for just 47 runs from eight overs, with an impressive economy rate of 5.87. In comparison, all other bowlers conceded 119 runs and managed to take only three wickets from 12 overs.

Notably, Harshal Patel’s dismissal of MS Dhoni marked the third instance where he has gotten the better of the former CSK skipper in the IPL. Harshal’s exceptional bowling performance against Dhoni has resulted in a strike rate of 75.75 for the CSK batter in their encounters.

Rahul Chahar’s stellar record against CSK continued in this match, as he now boasts a total of 15 wickets from 13 matches against the Super Kings in the IPL. With an average of 20.06 and an economy rate of 6.14, Chahar has proven to be a formidable force against the CSK lineup.

Overall, the exceptional bowling display by Chahar and Harshal played a crucial role in Punjab Kings’ victory over CSK, solidifying their position in the IPL standings.
