Champion Softball Dominates Berkshire, Advances to District Finals

LEAVITTSBURG — The Champion Golden Flashes continued their winning ways on Tuesday, securing a spot in the Division III LaBrae district finals with a commanding 11-0 victory over Berkshire.

Senior Bella Meyer led the charge for Champion, recording four RBIs and two hits, including a crucial two-run double. Pitcher Gabby Gradishar was stellar on the mound, tallying a dozen strikeouts and contributing two hits of her own.

From the opening pitch, Champion asserted its dominance, scoring three runs in the first inning and never looking back. The Flashes consistently found gaps in the Berkshire defense, turning singles into doubles and steadily adding to their lead.

Despite a brief scare in the third inning when Berkshire threatened to score, Champion’s defense held strong and preserved the shutout.

With the win, Champion advances to the district finals where they will face off against Lakeview on Thursday. Having defeated the Bulldogs earlier in the season, the Flashes are confident in their ability to come out on top once again.

Head coach Cheryl Weaver emphasized the importance of desire and focus heading into the finals, noting that the team’s success hinges on their determination to win.

As the Flashes gear up for the district championship, the message is clear: Champion is a force to be reckoned with, and they have their sights set on bringing home another title.
