Champions Crowned in EDC Girls’ Individual Tennis Tournament on Saturday

The Eastern Dakota Conference girls tennis individual semifinals, third-place, and championship matches are set to take place this Saturday at Courts Plus in Fargo. The competition is heating up as the top players battle it out for the coveted titles.

In the singles category, West Fargo Sheyenne’s Sarea Gu will face off against Fargo Davies’ Tanis Lee in one semifinal, while Davies’ Paige McCormick will take on Grand Forks Central’s Madi Stauss in the other. Gu secured her spot in the semis with a dominant 6-2, 6-2 victory over Valley City’s Skye Nielson, while Lee defeated Wahpeton’s Brenna Erdman with a score of 6-1, 6-1.

In the doubles category, one semifinal will feature a Valley City vs. Valley City matchup, with Breck Sufficool and Abigail Martinek going head-to-head against teammates Kailee Nielson and Georgia Zaun. The other semifinal will see Fargo Shanley’s Madeline Abbott and Mary Wolf taking on West Fargo Sheyenne’s Alyssa Sommerfeld and Shireen Durrani.
