In an exciting turn of events at the New York State Public High School Athletic Association track and field championships, the boys 1,600-meter relay in Division 2 took center stage after two weather delays at Cicero-North Syracuse High School. The top two seeds, Dunkirk and Randolph, faced off in a thrilling race that had spectators on the edge of their seats.

Ultimately, it was the Randolph boys who emerged victorious, edging out Dunkirk for first place in the relay. The team, composed of Dempsey McDonald, Diego Stradi, Roan Kelly, and Talon Rowland, ran a time of 3:19.75, securing the win and surprising many with their performance.

Rowland, reflecting on the victory, attributed their success to a positive mindset and hard work throughout the season. The team’s determination and focus paid off as they crossed the finish line ahead of their competitors.

Meanwhile, Maple Grove senior Jonah Foley also had a standout performance in the triple jump, achieving a personal record and securing second place in Division 2. Despite battling through injury, Foley’s determination and perseverance propelled him to success, leaving him thrilled with his performance.
