The Minnesota Valley Lutheran Chargers continued their early-season dominance in Tomahawk Conference baseball with a convincing 12-3 win over Wabasso on Thursday at Mueller Park in New Ulm.

The Chargers jumped to an 8-3 lead after three innings and sealed the game with four runs in the bottom of the sixth. MVL has now outscored their first four conference opponents 51-7, maintaining a perfect 4-0 record in conference play.

Pitcher Bradyn Kube led the way for the Chargers, going four innings and allowing three unearned runs while striking out four. Josh Vanderplas pitched the final three innings and only gave up two hits.

Offensively, Vanderplas shined with two hits and three RBIs, while Jaxson Wagner led Wabasso with two hits.

Chargers head coach Jim Buboltz praised his team’s performance but highlighted the need for better defense and capitalizing on scoring opportunities. Despite scoring 12 runs, the Chargers left 13 runners on base.

The Chargers took an early lead in the first inning and never looked back, responding to Wabasso’s brief lead in the second inning with timely hits and solid pitching.

Buboltz commended his pitching duo of Kube and Vanderplas for their strong performance and emphasized the team’s focus on improving their offensive execution moving forward.

With a solid start to the season, the Chargers look to maintain their momentum as they face off against Springfield on April 18.
