Charles Oliveira open to fighting Colby Covington and interested in facing Max Holloway in BMF bout

Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a surprising turn of events, Colby Covington has offered to welcome Charles Oliveira to the welterweight division in the UFC, and the Brazilian fighter is not ruling out the possibility of facing “Chaos” in his next appearance.

Covington made the callout after indicating he will not be fighting Ian Machado Garry, and even went as far as to claim he has better grappling skills than Oliveira, who holds the record for most submission wins in UFC history.

Oliveira, in response, admitted that he was surprised by the callout but liked the idea of a potential matchup with Covington. He acknowledged Covington’s style of promoting fights through trash talk and expressed interest in the financial opportunity and challenge of moving up a weight class to face a stronger opponent.

While Covington last fought in December 2023, losing to Leon Edwards, Oliveira is looking to return to the octagon by July or August before the birth of his son. He also mentioned another potential opponent that interests him for a legacy fight: Max Holloway, the current BMF titleholder.

Oliveira and Holloway previously fought in 2015, with Holloway emerging victorious after Oliveira suffered a neck injury. Now, Oliveira sees a rematch with Holloway as an opportunity to solidify his legacy in the sport.

As the UFC considers potential matchups for both Covington and Oliveira, fans are eagerly anticipating the outcome of these potential fights that could shake up the welterweight and featherweight divisions.
