Reading Time: < 1 minute

In a thrilling match at Yankee Stadium, Charlotte FC and New York City FC battled it out on the pitch, with both teams deadlocked at a goal each for much of the game. The tension was palpable as the clock ticked on and it seemed like the match would end in a draw.

Kerwin Vargas got Charlotte FC off to a strong start, finding the back of the net just three minutes into the game. But New York City FC fought back, with midfielder Keaton Parks equalizing just before halftime, assisted by Julián Fernández.

The second half saw both teams pushing for the win, with Charlotte FC players receiving all three yellow cards of the night. As the match entered stoppage time, it was New York City FC who found the breakthrough. Alonso Martínez and Santiago Rodríguez combined to score the winning goal, securing a 2-1 victory for the home team.

After 90 minutes of intense play and 11 minutes of stoppage time, Charlotte FC couldn’t find the equalizer, giving New York City FC their first win against the black and blue team. The fans at Yankee Stadium erupted in celebration as the final whistle blew.

Charlotte FC will now regroup and prepare to face the Portland Timbers at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, May 4. With Star Wars night on the horizon, the black and blue will look to harness the Force and secure a victory in front of their home fans.
