World Central Kitchen founder José Andrés delivered a heartfelt tribute to the seven aid workers from his organization who were tragically killed in a Gaza airstrike by the Israel Defense Forces. Speaking at an interfaith celebration of life at the Washington National Cathedral, Andrés shared emotional stories about each of the fallen workers, highlighting their dedication to serving humanity.

Among the aid workers honored were individuals from various countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Poland. Andrés described them as selfless individuals who went above and beyond to help those in need, even at the risk of their own lives.

The chef expressed his deep sorrow over the loss of his team members, emphasizing the importance of their humanitarian work in providing food and hope to communities in crisis. He called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deadly airstrike, demanding accountability for the lives lost.

Despite the suspension of World Central Kitchen’s operations in Gaza following the tragic incident, Andrés vowed to continue the organization’s mission of serving those in need around the world. He emphasized the importance of honoring the memory and legacy of the fallen aid workers by carrying on their spirit of compassion and service.

President Joe Biden and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff also extended their condolences to the families of the aid workers, offering support and solidarity during this difficult time. The interfaith memorial service served as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made by humanitarian workers in the pursuit of a better world for all.
