Chelsea sign Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a four-year deal

Chelsea have secured the signing of Tosin Adarabioyo from Fulham on a four-year deal, the club confirmed today. The defender underwent a medical earlier this week and will officially join the Blues on a free transfer when his contract with Fulham expires at the end of June.

Tosin turned down multiple contract offers from Fulham before opting to join Chelsea, becoming the first signing under new manager Enzo Maresca. Despite interest from Newcastle and Manchester United, Chelsea’s superior personal terms reportedly sealed the deal.

Expressing his excitement about the move, Tosin said, “Chelsea is a huge club and this is a full-circle moment for me. I was born just three miles away from Stamford Bridge and made my professional debut there. I’m very excited and looking forward to helping push the club in the direction we want to go.”

The 26-year-old’s height and ball-playing abilities caught Chelsea’s attention, especially with veteran Thiago Silva leaving the club this summer, creating a gap in the squad at center-back. Tosin made 20 appearances for Fulham in the Premier League last season, scoring two goals and contributing to their 13th-place finish.

Before his move, Tosin expressed gratitude to Fulham on social media, saying, “Together with the manager, staff, my teammates, and supporters, we made some great memories that I’ll always hold fondly. I wish you all the best in the future.”

The summer transfer window in the Premier League officially opens on June 14, coinciding with the start of Euro 2024, and will close on August 30. The Premier League has aligned its deadline with other major European leagues for this transfer window.
