Cherry Creek girls tennis falls just short of 40th state title

On May 14, the Cherry Creek girls tennis team faced a tough loss to Ralston Valley in the Class 5A state girls dual meet team championship, ending their six-time winning streak. Despite their defeat, the Bruins put up a valiant fight, with Coach Christin Jacob expressing pride in their efforts.

The championship match saw Ralston Valley emerge victorious with a 4-2 lead, clinching the state title with a win in the No. 3 singles match. Scarlett Lutz of Ralston Valley defeated Creek’s Zoe Hochstadt in a hard-fought battle, securing the crucial fourth win for her team.

Despite the loss, Coach Jacob commended Hochstadt for her determination and growth throughout the season, highlighting her impressive performance in the championship match. The Bruins also saw victories in the No. 4 doubles and No. 2 doubles matches, showcasing their resilience and skill on the court.
