VTEC and Ivy Tech Valparaiso recently celebrated their second graduation ceremony, honoring students William Stanford and Thomas Sims. The partnership between VTEC and Ivy Tech aims to provide certified graduates with valuable skills for their future careers. The 12-week program not only awards students with a certification in Basic Safety Principles of Production from Ivy Tech but also equips them with skills mastery and industry accreditation certificates from VTEC.

VTEC, a division of Opportunity Enterprises, offers a variety of training specialties including electronics recycling, light industrial, custodial services, food services, and hospitality. This program allows students of all abilities to continue their education and prepare for their futures. The partnership with Ivy Tech further enhances the students’ experience by providing them with a traditional college experience after high school.

In addition to the graduation ceremony, NorthShore Health Centers announced their expansion into four new communities, including Crown Point, Michigan City, and East Chicago. These new facilities will offer a range of medical services, including family practice, pediatrics, OB/GYN, dental, endocrinology, mental health, and pharmacy services. This expansion marks a significant milestone in NorthShore’s mission to provide quality healthcare to underserved communities.

Furthermore, the Porter County Community Foundation approved $232,184 in grants to 33 local nonprofit organizations. These grants will support a variety of programs and services aimed at improving the quality of life in the community. Organizations such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana, Food Bank of Northwest Indiana, and Opportunity Enterprises will benefit from this funding.
