Chico High School’s baseball team had a remarkable season, culminating in a Northern Section Division II championship win. The Panthers’ success was attributed to the leadership of head coach Brian Thomas, who was recently named Coach of the Year.
Thomas, in his first year as head coach, guided the team to victory in 14 of their last 16 games, including an impressive 11-game winning streak in the Eastern Athletic League. The Panthers’ success was a testament to the hard work and dedication of both the players and coaching staff.
“I am beyond fortunate to have Andy Quiring and Tom Miles on my staff,” Thomas said. “Of course, the players are a huge reason for our success, but without my assistants, we would not have been able to achieve the successes this year.”
The team’s first baseman Luke Henderson and third baseman Malachi Bosschart were named to the First Team, while pitcher Rex Edwards and utility player Jaden Neugebauer earned spots on the Second Team. This recognition highlighted the talent and skill of Chico High’s players.
Overall, the Panthers’ successful season and Coach Thomas’ well-deserved award are a testament to the team’s hard work, dedication, and commitment to excellence. The future looks bright for Chico High School’s baseball program under the leadership of Coach Thomas.
