The Kansas City Chiefs have solidified their future by signing star tight end Travis Kelce to a new contract, making him the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL. The deal, initially reported as an extension through 2027, was later clarified to be a raise on the remaining two years of his existing contract, running through 2025.

Kelce’s new contract is worth $34.25 million, surpassing the $30.25 million he was previously set to earn over the same period. This makes him the highest-paid tight end in the league, with an average annual salary of $17.125 million.

The 34-year-old Kelce, a nine-time Pro Bowler, has been a key part of the Chiefs’ success, helping lead them to four Super Bowl appearances in the last five years, resulting in three championships. He has amassed impressive career stats, with 907 receptions, 11,328 yards, and 74 touchdowns.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes, Kelce’s teammate and close friend, expressed his excitement over the new contract, highlighting the strong bond between the two players on and off the field.

In other news, Kelce’s brother Jason, who recently retired from the NFL, is set to join ESPN’s “Monday Night Countdown” pregame show as an analyst for the upcoming 2024 season. The Kelce brothers also co-host the popular podcast “New Heights,” showcasing their dynamic personalities beyond the football field.
