Three children were struck by lightning on a beach in the coastal town of Isabela, northern Puerto Rico, sparking a terrifying scene that left one child unable to walk. The minors, aged between 7 and 12 years old, were immediately rushed to the Buen Samaritano Hospital in Aguadilla following the strike.
Carlos Cruz, acting director of the Isabela Municipal Emergency Management Agency, recounted the harrowing moment when one of the parents heard the lightning and a child screaming. The oldest child is currently in serious condition and remains in intensive care due to problems with his limbs.
Eyewitness Mishka García described the chaotic scene to El Nuevo Día, recalling the ominous black clouds on the horizon and the series of lightning strikes that forced people out of the water. The moment of tragedy was marked by a deafening explosion, leaving three children injured.
García detailed the frantic response as bystanders sprang into action to provide first aid to the young victims before paramedics arrived. The video capturing the terrifying incident has since gone viral on social media, although Express.co.uk has chosen not to share the distressing footage.
