China and Russia are strengthening their strategic cooperation as Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visits Beijing. The two countries are looking to bolster their diplomatic ties amidst Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.

During Lavrov’s two-day official visit, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed China’s support for Russia’s stable development under President Vladimir Putin’s leadership. Wang emphasized the importance of standing on the side of “fairness and justice” in global affairs.

The relationship between Russia and China has been growing closer in recent years, with China increasingly holding the upper hand as Russia faces international isolation. Lavrov thanked China for its support following Putin’s recent re-election, highlighting the deep trust of the Russian people in their leader.

Both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic cooperation on the world stage and providing mutual support. They discussed conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza, with China pledging to play a constructive role in promoting peace and stability.

However, Western nations have raised concerns about China’s support for Russia’s military efforts. U.S. officials have warned China against indirectly aiding the Russian war effort, urging Beijing to use its influence to bring about peace in Ukraine.

Despite Western pressure, China and Russia remain steadfast in their partnership, condemning unlawful sanctions and efforts to impede their economic and technological development. The two countries are determined to continue working together to advance their shared interests and promote a common future for all humankind.
