China and the United Arab Emirates Strengthen Ties with Multiple Agreements

In a bid to enhance their bilateral cooperation, China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have signed multiple agreements in various fields including investment, joint construction of the Belt and Road, science and technology, and peaceful use of nuclear energy. The agreements were signed during a state visit by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to China, where he met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

The signing ceremony, which took place at the Great Hall of the People, was attended by both leaders who emphasized the importance of strengthening their ties. President Xi Jinping highlighted the UAE’s significance as an important comprehensive strategic partner of China, noting that their robust development of bilateral relations serves as a model for China-Arab state relations in the new era.

During their talks, both presidents discussed the need to enhance collaboration in various fields, including trade, energy, infrastructure, and high-tech sectors such as information technology, artificial intelligence, and new energy. They also underscored the importance of law enforcement and security cooperation between the two countries.

President Xi expressed China’s support for the UAE in pursuing an independent development path and safeguarding its national sovereignty, security, and development interests. He also reiterated China’s commitment to promoting high-quality joint construction of the Belt and Road with the UAE, aligning their development strategies, and establishing a high-level committee for two-way investment cooperation.

In his remarks, President Xi emphasized the importance of Middle East countries as a significant force in the multipolar world and expressed China’s support for their development path based on unity, self-improvement, peace, and reconciliation. He called for resolving differences through communication and consultations, while allowing these countries to hold their destiny in their own hands.

President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan described China as his second home and emphasized the UAE’s commitment to developing its relationship with China. He highlighted the mutual trust, mutual respect, and common interests that underpin the UAE-China relationship, noting that cooperation in various fields has reached an extraordinary level.

The UAE president also reaffirmed his country’s adherence to the one-China principle, opposition to “Taiwan independence,” and support for China’s efforts to achieve national reunification. He expressed the UAE’s willingness to work with China to promote Arab-China and Gulf Cooperation Council-China relations for the benefit of their peoples.

On the issue of the Palestine-Israel conflict, both leaders shared a common position on the need for a comprehensive ceasefire and alleviation of the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. They emphasized the importance of working together to promote a comprehensive, just, and sustainable solution to the conflict.

The visit also included a meeting between President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Zhao Leji, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, China’s top legislative body. The discussions further underscored the commitment of both countries to strengthening their ties and promoting mutual cooperation in various fields.

Overall, the signing of multiple agreements and the high-level talks between China and the UAE reflect the strong commitment of both countries to deepening their strategic partnership and working together to achieve common goals.
