Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts CEO Mikael Svensson unveiled the ambitious $1.3 billion Cinnamon Life project in Sri Lanka at the Arabian Travel Market 2024 in Dubai. This groundbreaking initiative aims to transform Colombo into a premier entertainment and MICE hub in South Asia.

Svensson emphasized the strategic vision behind Cinnamon Life, highlighting its potential to revolutionize not only Colombo but the entire South Asian region. The project includes two hotels, extensive gaming facilities, numerous dining options, banquet spaces, and a cutting-edge exhibition center.

With a focus on boosting Colombo as a gateway city, Svensson underscored Sri Lanka’s untapped potential, citing its strategic location and natural beauty. The investment targets both regional and international guests, particularly from key markets like India, the UK, Germany, and Russia.

Furthermore, Svensson detailed the project’s extensive MICE facilities, capable of accommodating over 5,000 guests. This complements Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts’ existing portfolio, enhancing Colombo’s ability to host large-scale conferences and exhibitions.

Sustainability is a core focus of the Cinnamon Life project, with initiatives such as eliminating single-use plastics, establishing water bottling plants, and supporting wildlife conservation and reforestation efforts. Svensson emphasized the project’s commitment to respecting and enhancing Sri Lanka’s natural environment.

Looking ahead, Svensson expressed confidence in Sri Lanka’s tourism growth, projecting a significant increase in tourist arrivals in the coming years. Cinnamon Life is poised to play a pivotal role in this expansion, positioning Colombo as a world-class destination in the region.
