In a passionate email sent out on Saturday, Clooney described the upcoming election as a “battle for the soul of our nation” and called for donations to ensure that Biden and Harris secure another four years in the White House.

This comes just days after a report from The Washington Post revealed that Clooney had called a top White House aide to express concern about President Biden’s criticism of the International Criminal Court’s arrest warrants against Israeli leaders. Clooney’s wife, Amal Clooney, an international human rights lawyer, had served on an ICC panel that led to the issuance of arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

The warrants, which alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity during the conflict in Gaza, were immediately denounced by President Biden as “outrageous.” The situation in Gaza has escalated, with Hamas attacking Israel and Israel launching offensives into the enclave, resulting in numerous casualties and displacements.

Clooney’s advocacy for the Biden-Harris campaign reflects his belief in the need to protect civilian lives and uphold the rule of law. He is set to attend a fundraising event in Los Angeles alongside actress Julia Roberts and former President Barack Obama. In his email, Clooney encouraged supporters to donate and participate in a lottery for a chance to meet him, Roberts, Biden, and Obama.
