Co-founder of OpenAI steps down following release of GPT-4o

Reading Time: < 1 minute

OpenAI’s co-founder, Ilya Sutskever, has resigned from the company shortly after the launch of their latest AI chatbot, the GPT-4o model. Sutskever, who served as the chief scientist at OpenAI, announced his departure on Tuesday after nearly a decade with the company. The resignation comes just days after the unveiling of the advanced chatbot, which boasts features for seeing, hearing, speaking, and reasoning with a human-like response time.

Sutskever’s departure follows a period of internal turmoil at OpenAI, including the dramatic firing and re-hiring of co-founder Mr. Altman last November. Sutskever played a central role in the decision to dismiss Mr. Altman from the company’s board. His resignation raises questions about the future direction of OpenAI and its leadership team.
