In a thrilling semi-final match at Roland-Garros 2024, Coco Gauff faced off against world no.1 Iga Swiatek, ultimately falling short with a 6-2, 6-4 defeat. In her post-match interview, Gauff acknowledged Swiatek’s dominance on both clay and hard courts, expressing disappointment over her error-prone performance.

Reflecting on her head-to-head record against Swiatek, Gauff admitted defeat in 11 out of their 12 encounters. She attributed Swiatek’s success on clay to her comfort level and ability to control points, highlighting the areas where she underperformed, such as execution and short ball play.

Currently ranked world no.3, Gauff has had a successful season with a composed 30-9 match record and a title win in Auckland. Despite her loss in the semi-finals, Gauff expressed pride in her tournament run and a desire to advance further in future competitions.

On the other hand, Swiatek has had an outstanding year, currently holding a 44-4 match record in 2024. The Polish player has conquered 5 titles in Australia, Doha, Indian Wells, Madrid, and Rome, showcasing her dominance on both hard courts and clay courts.

As Swiatek gears up to face world no.15 Jasmine Paolini in the final of the French Open, their head-to-head record stands at 2-0 in favor of Swiatek. With a total of 22 titles in her career, including 13 on hard courts and 9 on clay courts, Swiatek continues to solidify her position as one of the top players in the world.
